Haji mohamed safwan Othman

President / Group Managing Director

Haji Mohamed Safwan Othman has served as the President and Group Managing Director of Dinastia Jati Group since November 2013, leading the Group’s transformation into one of Malaysia’s leading Bumiputera-owned maritime companies. With over two decades of experience in finance, shipping, and the oil & gas industry, he has successfully driven the Group’s expansion across offshore support services, bulk and energy transportation, and downstream maritime solutions.

Holding a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Salford and a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance & Islamic Banking from the London School of Business, Haji Safwan combines strong financial expertise with strategic business leadership. Prior to joining Dinastia Jati Group, he held key positions in finance and project management, including overseeing projects exceeding RM700 million during his tenure with Shapadu Energy & Engineering Sdn. Bhd., while also leading financial planning and Shariah restructuring initiatives across multiple international markets.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Haji Safwan is widely recognised as one of the region’s leading maritime advocates. He currently serves as Chairman of the Federation of ASEAN Shipowners’ Associations (FASA) and Chairman of the Malaysia Shipowners’ Association (MASA), representing the collective interests of ASEAN and Malaysian shipowners. Through these leadership roles, he actively promotes stronger regional collaboration, progressive maritime policies, sustainable shipping practices, and human capital development while strengthening ASEAN’s voice within the global maritime community.

Under his leadership, Dinastia Jati Group continues to pursue sustainable growth, operational excellence, and strategic diversification. His vision is centred on building a resilient, innovative, and internationally competitive maritime organisation that contributes meaningfully to Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s shipping industry while creating long-term value for stakeholders.
